Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, Known For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.

American entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic television series including Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed at 60 years old.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California this Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, according to media reports.

"He saw everyone as a friend - only friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones said in a announcement.

They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".

An Extensive Television Career

His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a regular part on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, playing a party host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on several well-known programs, such as:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.

His film credits include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Beyond his television work, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired countless students over the years and it would be difficult to find anyone anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Paying homage, peer Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted online.

Pat Finn is remembered by his wife Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
