Baroque Works is geared up to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, even if the real showdown won’t unfold until the next season, and a beloved, popular member has now been chosen.

Netflix announced Tuesday that the skilled actor will appear in the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will portray Bentham. This character can use their power to morph into an perfect replica of any person they’ve touched with their dominant hand. The performer, who is identifies as non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will play a rendition of that role reimagined as gender non-binary, as opposed to as a drag performer, in the real-life adaptation, differing from the initial comic and animated series.

The new cast member joins several other fresh additions set to bring Baroque Works to reality, featuring chief Sir Crocodile, portrayed by the well-known actor, a talented actress as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the ensemble as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.

Though Bon Clay is a key figure of the group, the persona won’t appear until One Piece the upcoming installment. With season 2 set to cover the Little Garden arc, this represents a notable change in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal further changes to the narrative framework.

The actor’s combination of excellent comedic sense and emotional depth makes them a perfect fit for the role. Along with their recent voice performance in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for penning and acting in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece series is scheduled to come back for its next installment on March 10th, 2026.
