President Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.

He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Information on the Tragic Incident

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a violent incident on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Gatherings across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.

White House Call

The president said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president addressed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Public Response

Mourners assembled over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both they had been serving with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid public safety in DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that educators hoped for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the head of her alma mater, stated to the media. “She was caring, considerate and always eager to help others.”

Service arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Government Changes

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy prompted the Trump administration to pause asylum applications and temporarily stop granting entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, per the Associated Press.

He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Morrisey stated on a news program.

Attorney general Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit Wolfe’s family.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, per the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” the governor informed the audience at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
