Nico O’Reilly One more assured performance by the 20-year-old after his first cap against another side. Saka failed to make the most of an exquisite touch behind the opposing backline. The left-back spot is firmly his at this stage. 7/10

Adam Wharton His first start in an England shirt. Slightly loose when playing out though his whipped deliveries were a threat. A handy tempo-setter for the boss to call upon versus defensive opponents. Booked for a rash challenge. 6

Declan Rice Deliveries from corners and free kicks were dangerous. Was given room to roam on the left but was offside as the pass came in front of goal. Granted a well-earned rest around the 60-minute point. Six

Jude Bellingham Functioned in an advanced position on the right while also did plenty of dirty work. Showed glimpses of brilliance but dragged an effort high. Replaced late on by Rogers, his rival, after being booked. 7/10

Jarrod Bowen Had England’s best chance before halftime, his shot smartly stopped by Thomas Strakosha. As a teammate staying deep, it fell to him to provide width down the right side yet his deliveries from wide areas were inconsistent. Replaced late in the match. 6

The captain The difference-maker netting 77th and 78th finishes in an England shirt. His first a classic opportunist's goal and his next a classy finish with his head having drifted away from his marker. At 32, he continues to improve and England are strong contenders next summer with him leading the line. Eight

Eberechi Eze Found it tough to influence play on the left flank. Had a decent opportunity when set up by Bellingham yet the keeper made the save. His replacement made much more of effect in his place. 5
