A charity drive is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign hopes to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to support Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely let down if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It occupies a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Contributing Musicians

The single was laid down after a large-scale benefit event held in September. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the rendition was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.

The notable list of performers featured on Lullaby features a selection of prominent voices from the scene. All participated in the September show, which reportedly raised a significant sum for relief efforts.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a trio of music creators. The track showcases a fusion of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.

The organizers behind the campaign have stated that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These donations will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”

The context in the region was characterized as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of infrastructure reportedly destroyed or damaged.

“Against that backdrop, a couple of million won't make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing the human dimension of the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a digital service from later in the month.
