Authorities stated they were notified by a individual who discovered a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Cars, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then discovered many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say early analysis indicate the fluid was probably human blood.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are currently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for tips.

A high-ranking political figure commented the vandalism made him without words and had to be resolved quickly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
